Our Story
"If one offers Me with love and devotion a leaf, a flower, a fruit or water, I will accept it."
{Bhagwat Geeta-9.26}
'VARR – Temple Food of India’, an award-winning specialty artisanal restaurant in Rishikesh, takes you on a culinary pilgrimage of the most popular and delectable prasadams served across the temples of India. Bhog offered at temples are an extraordinary facet of the culinary landscape of India. Each temple offers unique prasadam made from seasonal and local ingredients, infused with distinctive flavours and served with humble devotion.
At VARR (a moniker of vardhan), award-winning chef Anuj Kapoor has created an artisanal and inimitable menu of Raj Bhog thalis for lunch and dinner that takes patrons on a culinary pilgrimage across Gurudwaras in North India, the Char Dhams in the Himalayas, Brijbhoomi in the northern plains, Sri Padmanabha Swami, Thiruvananthapuram, Akshhardham Temple of Vadtal, Gujarat, and Jagannath Temple Puri, to name a few.
Lilting chants, soothing incense, and striking temple artefacts promise to infuse a sacred aura. All our preparations use pure Desi Ghee infused with immunity boosting Ayurvedic herbs and spices such as triphala, holy basil (tulsi), curry leaves (kadi patta), gooseberry (amla), turmeric, cinnamon, black peppercorns, honey, bay leaves etc.
And what better place to relish than in the Gateway to the Himalayas – Rishikesh. We look forward to your patronage at VARR, housed in Rishikesh’s boutique hotel ‘HOLYWATER by Ganga Kinare'.
